Before your arrival

Here is a list of documents students have to get before coming to Italy.

1. Identity Card or Passport
  • As a citizen of another EU Member State or of an EFTA Country (except Switzerland) your identity card will be sufficient to enter Italy.
  • A passport is required for all non EU citizens and citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Malta and Norway.
2. Visa

If you are a NON-EUROPEAN UNION citizen you must have a student visa or visto per motivo di studio.
Contact your nearest Italian Consulate or Embassy. When you apply be prepared to submit the following documents in their original form:

  • valid passport
  • letter of acceptance given by the University of Brescia;
  • proof of sufficient funds to support your stay in Italy, either through a bank statement or a scholarship document;
  • private health insurance for all period you stay in Italy.

We advise you to contact the Italian Consular Authorities for further information as requirements are often subject to changes. Obtaining a student visa can take weeks or months so it's advisable to begin the process early.

3. Health documents
  • EU Students

Healthcare is very important: you may need medical assistance and, if you are not in possession of any appropriate documents, medical assistance can be very expensive. European Health Insurance Card are issued by the official body responsible for healthcare in your Country (AOK, etc.).

Non-EU citizens are requested to take out private health insurance before leaving their home country and to obtain a consular declaration of its validity for Italy.
