Corso - Advances in Children Environmental Health

Nell'ambito del protocollo d'intesa tra l'Università degli Studi di Brescia e Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, USA, da venerdì 5 maggio a venerdì 9 giugno 2017 alle 14:00 nell'aula S di Medicina in viale Europa 11 si svolgerà il corso dal titolo: "Advances in Children Environmental Health" con il prof. Robert Wright, MD, PhD - Visiting Professor, Chair, Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health.

Programma

  • venerdì 5 maggio: Children Environmental Health: the role of development in the response to environmental toxicants;
  • venerdì 12 maggio: Epigenetic modifications and fetal programming;
  • venerdì 19 maggio: Air pollution and health: more than just respiratory effects;
  • venerdì 26 maggio: Gene-Environment Interactions and Child Health;
  • giovedì 1 giugno: The Exposome: Defining the Importance and Complexity of measuring the Environment;
  • venerdì 9 giugno: Social stressors/toxins: interactions with the exposome.

 

This problem-based learning course will emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to address problems in children environmental health and toxicology. Students will conduct analyses of assigned problems that integrate exposure pathways in environmental settings, fundamental laws governing the interaction of chemicals with biological systems at the molecular, cellular, and organismal level, and the environmental/public health impacts. The course will use a problem-based case study format to promote the understanding of key concepts and their application to the prevention of morbidity and mortality resulting from environmental exposure to toxic substances.
