Main objective of the course is the demonstration how town and regional planning can influence risk. The contents: - relation between land, natural resources and anthropic pressures; - main concepts of environmental sustainability; - definitions of risk, hazard, vulnerability and exposition; - main principles of the process of town and regional planning; - risk perception: socially acceptable level of risk; - risk mitigation policies and the human component of risk; - the main natural catastrophic phenomena and the relation with planning; - basic international (European) legislation references.
