In 2017, the Brescia Prize for Scientific Research was established by the Università degli Studi di Brescia with the aim of honouring Brescians of origin and election who have distinguished themselves in the various fields of scientific and technological research.
The prize is awarded annually and is conferred during the Brescia Prize ceremony, which the University, together with the Fondazione Civiltà Bresciana, traditionally holds in its premises, Palazzo Tosio, on 15 February each year.
The Prize is awarded by the Rector of the Università degli Studi di Brescia and consists of the silver embossing from the plaque created by master Francesco Medici and a declaratory plaque with the name of the award winner and the reasons for the prize.
The Commission that awards the Prize is chaired by the Rector of the University of Brescia and is composed of the President of the University, the Secretary of the Brescian Prize, the Vice Rector and the Rector's Delegate for Research and meets between October and November of the previous year to decide on the name of the winner.

- Maria Luisa Gorno Tempini (2019) scholar of the neurology of language, which has opened up new frontiers in research into the human mind.
- Bruno Codenotti (2020) mathematician, expert in computational complexity, great populariser of science.
- Emiliana Brocchi (2021) Head of the complex structure Vesicular Viruses and Biotechnological Productions at the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Brescia.
- Luigi Daniele Notarangelo (2022) Chief Laboratory of Clinical Immunology and Microbiology at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
- Claudia Sorlini (2023) Commendatore Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana for the dissemination of culture in the environmental and agricultural fields, from 2019 Vice President of the Fondazione Cariplo.
