Mathematics OFA assignment

Additional Learning Duties (OFA) in mathematics are assigned:

  1. To students who score below the pass mark in the TOLC-E test (TOLC@CASA). The pass mark is 4 points out of a maximum of 13 attainable in the math section of the TOLC-E.
  2. To students who do not take the TOLC-E test (TOLC@CASA).
  3. To students who enrol late and do not take the test (TOLC@CASA) or take it scoring below the pass mark (4 points out of 13 attainable in the math section of the TOLC-E).

A student who is assigned OFAs in mathematics may still matriculate but will have to make up these OFAs.

Starting from a.y. 2023/2024, OFAs in mathematics can be carried out in the following ways.

Remediation of OFAs - EXAM MODE

Exam sessions for the remediation of OFAs in mathematics through the "exam mode" are as follows:

Remediation of OFAs - TOLC MODE

After the end of the winter exam session of a.y. 23-24, first- and second-year students who have not managed to make up their OFAs by means of the "exam mode" may re-take the TOLC-E in the period from 12 February 2024 to the 17 May 2024

Please note that the TOLC-E may be taken once a month, by registering directly through the CISIA website on one of the dates available in the TOLC-E calendar.

In the "TOLC Mode", the pass mark is 4 points out of a maximum of 13 achievable in the math section of the TOLC-E. 

The student secretariat in collaboration with the University's IT services will collect the results of the TOLC-E taken during the period from 12 February 2024 to 17 May 2024 and will keep an account of those who have fulfilled the OFAs.

Please note that only students without an OFA in Mathematics will be able to take the in itinere test in Political Economy I.

Courses barred by OFAs in Mathematics

Students with OFA in Mathematics will NOT be able to sit any examinations in the areas of political economy, computer science, mathematics and statistics before the aforementioned OFAs have been fulfilled.

Making up the basic knowledge in mathematics

Students still to perform OFAs in mathematics are invited to attend pre-courses on basic mathematics topics held during the period 28 August - 15 September 2023.

Each student is allotted to a pre-course based on his degree course:

  1. Pre-course of General Mathematics BF for students enrolled in Banking and Finance.
  2. Pre-course of Mathematics I EAD for students enrolled in Economics and Digital Firm
  3. Pre-course of General Mathematics EGA group AD for students enrolled in Business Administration at Brescia - Group A-D (based on surname initial).
  4. Pre-course of General Mathematics EGA group EN for students enrolled in Business Administration at Brescia - Group E-N (based on surname initial).
  5. Pre-course of General Mathematics EGA group OZ for students enrolled in Business Administration at Brescia - Group O-Z (based on surname initial).
  6. Pre-course of General Mathematics EGA Mantova for students enrolled in Business Administration at Mantua.
  7. Pre-course of General Mathematics/Mathematics I (evening distance learning course across all subjects of General Mathematics and Mathematics I).

Additionally, at the "Comunità Didattiche" (Teaching communities) of the courses of General Mathematics and Mathematics I video lectures on basic mathematical topics will be made available.

These online courses are meant as orienting tools for the students to fill the gaps on the basic topics of the mathematical area and gain the best training for the exams of General Mathematics and Mathematics I.
