The significance of human rights and their protection is widely recognized today. Human rights should take center stage in policy and law-making processes, extending to govern all human actions. Nonetheless, this does not mean their interpretation or implementation goes unchallenged. Safeguarding human rights is a continuous effort, as real-world developments consistently present new obstacles. This seminar aims to explore specific challenges that hinder the full realization of human rights, as well as the emerging trends and initiatives that reflect societies' progress in this area. Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of local governments as key players in the promotion and protection of human rights.
