Sala della Biblioteca, Dipartimento di Economia e Management - Via S. Faustino 74/B

From November 23 to 27, 2026, the Università di Brescia will host Professor Michael Spence, winner of the 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics, for the new edition of the Franco Modigliani–Robert Solow–I.S.E.O. Temporary Chair in Economic Sciences, sponsored by the I.S.E.O. Institute in collaboration with the University.

The course, titled “Global Growth and Its Components in the Post-Pandemic Era”, will feature a series of specialized lectures reserved for students in the University’s master’s and doctoral programs. The initiative will offer participants the opportunity to explore the transformations of the global economy and engage directly with one of the leading scholars on growth and the role of information in markets.

A Nobel laureate for his studies on markets with asymmetric information, Michael Spence has contributed to the development of market signaling theory. He is Honorary President of the I.S.E.O. Institute, Philip H. Knight Professor Emeritus at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution.

The Chair honors the scholarly legacy of Franco Modigliani, founder of the I.S.E.O. Institute, and Robert Solow, former president of the Institute, and strengthens the collaboration with the Università di Brescia in advanced economic education. Following the inaugural session in 2024, dedicated to climate finance with Robert Engle, and the 2025 session, focused on the finance of longevity with Robert Merton, the program continues with an in-depth exploration of the prospects for global growth.

At the conclusion of the educational activities, a public conference will open the discussion to local institutions and the general public.
