Abstract

CounterHate

This project contributes to the assistance to victims of hate crimes, by guaranteeing that legislation and policies establish a victim-centered
and intersectional approach. Objectives: To map legislations and policies regarding hate crimes and the assistance to victims; To analyze
the experiences of victims, policy makers and key professionals; To foster the exchange of best practices and the cooperation between
stakeholders; To carry out a “training for trainers” module for security and justice practitioners; To raise-awareness about the rights
of victims of crime and available services. Activities & outputs: Transnational analysis of legislation/policies, as well as victims and
key professionals’ perspectives (6 national and 1 transnational reports); Workshops to exchange experiences and promote cooperation
(6 national and 1 transnational workshops; Handbook on best practices); Development of a training for trainers module and training
pilots (x6); Awareness-raising and dissemination activities (12 press-releases; 21 media articles; 6 scientific papers; 1 position paper;
1 awareness-raising video; 1 final conference). Results: Increased understanding about the transposition of Victims’ Directive and the
implementation of national policies; Improved knowledge about the professionals and victims’ experiences; Increased exchange of the
successful measures among professionals; Strengthened cooperation between public and private bodies; Increased number of public and
private organizations of victims' support. Target groups & impact: 120 key professionals and victims of hate crimes will be involved
in the in-depth interviews; 240 representatives of anti-discrimination organizations throughout the survey; 132 professionals and policy
makers because of the workshops; 240 law enforcement and justice practitioners thanks to the training for trainers module; 260 victims,
representatives of civil organizations and general public throughout the dissemination activities.
