Economics St. Chiara

The former Monastery of St. Chiara hosted female Franciscan religious communities from the thirteenth century to the early nineteenth century. 
Designed by Ascanio Girelli, the majestic staircase is a masterpiece of scenography featuring ramps decorated with sculptures by Antonio Calegari. At the top of the perspective apparatus the sculptures which adorn the small temple are of particular architectural interest.
After its suppression the building was repurposed and used as a boarding school for girls, as a boarding school for girls, before eventually housing the first Municipal School of Drawing, attended by some of the most famous artists of mural decoration of the early twentieth century.
