On September 11th and 12th, 2024, the DICATAM Department of the University of Brescia hosted the Consortium Meeting of the Horizon Europe project CHEK – Change toolkit for digital building permit. (Grant Agreement N. 101058559).

This research project is part of Cluster 4 of the European Union's Strategic Research and Innovation Plan for 2021-2024 and was funded by the Twin Green and Digital Transition 2021 call (HORIZON-CL4-2021-TWIN-TRANSITION-01). Its objective is to develop technologies and processes for the digitalization of the construction sector. In this context, the project focuses on the digitalization of the building permit issuance process through the adoption and integration of building-scale (Building Information Modelling – BIM) and territorial-scale (3D City Modelling): the so-called GeoBIM.
The project, funded with a total of €5,000,000, of which €390,000 was allocated to the University of Brescia, is coordinated by TU Delft (University of Technology) and has a duration of three years, starting in October 2022. The scientific responsibility for the project at the University of Brescia lies with Prof. Angelo L.C. Ciribini, Full Professor of Production and Management of the Built Environment, who, together with Dr. Ing. Silvia Mastrolembo Ventura, a Researcher in the same scientific-disciplinary field, is part of the project's Executive Board and serves as leader for the Work Package Information requirements for the DBP (Digital Building Permit) use case.
Nineteen partners from twelve European countries gathered in Brescia to collaborate in two intensive days of workshops and in-person discussions. It was a significant moment for the development of the research as the project enters its third and final year. The demonstrative and validation phase of the developed solutions is now beginning.
