Open Badges are digital certificates of soft skills and acquired skills. They are guaranteed by the issuing body and internationally recognised. The Open Badge consists of a graphic part (image) and some specifications (metadata) which indicate the skill acquired or the ability or goal achieved. They also indicate the method used to check it, who issued it and the identity of the recipient.

Redeeming an Open Badge will allow you to:
- supplement your personal electronic CV to valorise the skills acquired over the years and make them more useful and visible;
- communicate quickly, also internationally, sharing and spreading personal skills through social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.);
- collect and download the image of the badge from the dedicated page or link to it;
- offer personal skills to companies selecting profiles with specific skills and abilities.

Ad esempio, nell’ambito di progetti nazionali come Edvance, alcuni Open Badge possono essere rilasciati tramite sistemi di emissione differenti da Bestr e successivamente importati nel profilo Bestr dell’utente, che in questo caso funge esclusivamente da strumento di raccolta e visualizzazione.
