COURSE OF STUDY QUALITY ASSURANCE
Since 2013, the Ministry of University and Research, through the National Agency for the Evaluation of the University System and Research (ANVUR), has set itself the goal of improving the quality of teaching and research in Italian universities through the application of a Quality Assurance (QA) model called the AVA (Self-Assessment - Periodic Evaluation - Accreditation) system.
Since then, every academic year faculty, students and technical-administrative staff of the University of Brescia are involved and engaged in the many activities described by the quality assurance cycle as represented in the Brochures.
STUDENT PARTICIPATION TO IMPROVE COURSE QUALITY
The student component can contribute to improving the quality of its Course of Study, first and foremost by participating in the Student Opinion Survey (ROS): after two-thirds of classes and up to the time of exam registration by responsibly answering questions in the questionnaire dedicated to the teaching. The answers provided, which will forever remain anonymous, will be aggregated with those of other students and carefully considered by all those who are committed to improving the quality of teaching. All students, even those who did not participate in face-to-face lectures, can respond to the ROS questionnaire, the results of which can be found at the link below.
The student component can also make specific reports on the organization of their Course of Study by filling out the online form below.
The bodies that, with different roles, collaborate in quality improvement in the courses of study are as follows:
the Joint Commission of Teachers and Students (Commissione Paritetica Docenti Studenti CPDS), formed at the departmental level, is composed equally of faculty and students. The CPDS, drawing on the information contained in the SUA-CdS and other sources made available by the University, evaluates the educational paths and teaching activities of the Courses of Study and makes proposals for improvement through its annual report.
The CPDS constitute the first and most immediate level of self-evaluation: in fact, they incorporate direct experience of the performance of the courses of study.
The Review Group (Gruppo di Riesame, GdR), which includes student representation, must implement the monitoring and review processes; it prepares the Monitoring Form annually, which contains a self-assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the Course of Study, and periodically drafts its Cyclical Review Report. The GdR promotes actions to improve the teaching quality of the Course of Study, also considering the suggestions of the CPDS.
The Departmental Quality Council (Presidio della Qualità del Dipartimento, PQD), composed of faculty and supported by technical-administrative staff, oversees and collaborates in the proper functioning of the Quality Assessment and Quality Assurance System regulated by ANVUR within the Department and assists the University Quality Council.
The University Quality Council (Presidio della Qualità di Ateneo, PQA), an Auxiliary Body of the Athenaeum that acts consistently with ANVUR's AVA System, is composed of faculty, technical-administrative staff and a student representative. It supervises and collaborates in the conduct of Quality Assurance procedures at the University level in courses of study and Departments based on the guidelines formulated by the Governing Bodies.
The Evaluation Unit (Nucleo di Valutazione, NdV), a body composed of faculty, experts in quality systems and a student representative, is in charge of verifying and evaluating the quality and effectiveness of the University's educational offerings, research activities, the proper management of facilities and personnel and the good performance of administrative action in connection with the activities of ANVUR.
