Council "Next Generation Researcher"

The Researchers’ Council (the ‘Next Generation Researcher’ Council) promotes and coordinates the participation of permanent researchers (RTI), fixed-term researchers (RTD-A and RTD-B) and tenure-track researchers (RTT), as well as research contract staff, in the university’s organisation.

The Council aims to involve researchers in training and those engaged in scientific and technological research, promoting their participation in the implementation of the University’s research policies and strategies.

The Council comprises two researchers from each of the University’s departments. The representatives of researchers on the Academic Senate are also ex officio members.

The term of office for Council members is two years and may be renewed once only.

The Council:

  • collaborates with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor and the delegates of the Research Division to promote and develop the University’s research in accordance with the Strategic Plan;
  • promotes the organisation of training activities, knowledge exchange and networking amongst researchers;
  • provides support and information to researchers, particularly those in training, on administrative and career-related matters, including in collaboration with the relevant offices;
  • promotes communication and events relating to the University’s research activities within the scientific and wider local communities;
  • where requested by the University’s governing bodies, it issues opinions on regulations or resolutions concerning the research community.

The Council may put forward independent proposals, recommendations or requests regarding:

  • the activities of researchers;
  • the evaluation of researchers’ work;
  • the conditions under which researchers carry out their research activities;
  • access to services and research calls for proposals.
