Convexity is central in optimization theory but fails in many realistic settings.
Weakly convex functions those that become convex after adding a quadratic term ) provide a tractable substitute.
In this talk, I will present the definition , key properties , and simple examples of weak convexity.
We will see that weakly convex functions retain useful features of convexity.
