On Saturday, November 14, and Sunday, November 15, the Università di Brescia will participate in “M come Montagna,” an event taking place at the Brixia Forum in Brescia dedicated to the mountains, covering nature, sports, tourism, and sustainability.
The UniBs booth offers an interactive experience that combines scientific outreach, sound experiences, and games to help the public learn about the mountain environment and its changes.
At the heart of the exhibit is Un suono in estinzione, an artistic-scientific project conceived by researcher and sound artist Sergio Maggioni, in collaboration with the Università di Brescia under the scientific direction of Prof. Roberto Ranzi. Through sounds recorded on the Adamello Glacier, visitors will be able to hear phenomena related to the movement and melting of ice: evocative audio recordings that also serve as valuable data for studying the glacier’s evolution and the effects of climate change.
The space will also host the Mountain Challenge, a quiz dedicated to mountain knowledge: five questions and a prize to engage visitors and spark their curiosity.
The Università di Brescia will also be participating in “M come Montagna” with an in-depth discussion titled “Water and the Mountains: Cultural Heritage, Energy, Health,” scheduled for Saturday, November 14, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the “Sala Adamello” venue. The session will be moderated by Prof. Roberto Ranzi and will feature the following presentations:
- WATER SLOpES: Traditional Irrigation and Hydrological Sustainability in Mountain Environments. A Connection Between People, Climate, and Landscape, Prof. Stefano Barontini – Department of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics
- RENEUMONT: The Use of Renewable Energy in Mountainous and Rural Contexts, Prof. Ivan Ferretti – Department of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics
- IMPACT-OH: Microplastics in the Mountains: Environment and Health, Prof. Stefania Federici – Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
