The University for Peace Centre (U4P) was established at the Department of Law (DIGI) of the University of Brescia, with its administrative headquarters located within the Department.
The U4P pursues the following objectives:
- to promote, undertake and coordinate interdisciplinary research and studies on peace, conflict prevention and conflict management (Peace Research);
- to promote and support educational and training initiatives, with particular emphasis on peace education, participation and active citizenship, development cooperation, nonviolence, civil service, and conflict management, mediation and transformation; these activities may also be carried out in collaboration with other organisations, in accordance with the accreditation requirements of regional, national and international bodies;
- to foster and coordinate the exchange of information and initiatives at local, national and international levels, promoting interdisciplinary cooperation in pursuit of the above objectives; to this end, the Centre may establish or promote appropriate organisational structures and develop partnerships and formal agreements with public and private institutions and organisations in Italy and abroad.
