Year of Establishment: 2006
The CeSiA (Centre for the Study and Research of Applied Seismology and Structural Dynamics) was established at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Land, Environment and Mathematics (DICATAM) of the University of Brescia, with its administrative headquarters located within the Department.
The Centre’s main objectives are to promote studies and research in the field of seismology, including soil–structure interaction, the stability of territorial protection structures, seismic microzonation, land-use planning in areas at seismic risk, the prevention and assessment of seismic risk affecting industrial facilities and infrastructure, and the development of innovative earthquake-resistant structural solutions.
The Centre’s mission is to advance scientific knowledge in seismology and promote a culture of prevention through research, scientific outreach and consultancy services that respond to the needs of the local community while maintaining the highest international research standards. Its vision is rooted in a passion for research and a commitment to the advancement of knowledge and culture, reflecting a deep appreciation of the University’s role in society.
