Agreement Details

Type: CRUI Transformative Agreement (Read & Publish).

Duration: January 1, 2025 – December 31, 2027.

Benefit: Full coverage of APCs for open access articles, with no cost to authors. The final acceptance date of the article must fall within the validity period of the agreement.

Publishing License: CC BY. Copyright remains with the authors and is not transferred to the publisher.

Eligible Article Types: Original research articles, including research articles, brief reports, notes, essays, reports, review articles, research letters, discussions, case reports, methods, article commentaries, pictorial works, replies, rapid communications, data notes, legal cases, dissertations, multimedia articles, target articles, plain language summaries, and registered reports. Editorials, announcements, and book reviews are not eligible.

Eligible Journals: Over 2,000 hybrid journals from Taylor & Francis and Routledge. Fully gold open access journals, the Expert Collection, the F1000Research platform, and Dove Medical Press journals are excluded. Journals that transition from hybrid to fully gold open access during the agreement period remain eligible.

Eligible Authors

Only corresponding authors who are affiliated with the University of Brescia at the time the article is finally accepted by the journal are eligible. The institutional affiliation of other authors – including the first or last author – is not relevant.
During submission and after acceptance, the corresponding author must indicate their affiliation by selecting or entering the University of Brescia where required. Using an institutional email address is recommended. The declared affiliation will be verified and confirmed by the University Library System staff.

Coverage limits

There is a maximum number of APCs that can be covered nationally each contract year. Requests are processed on a first come, first served basis, and the remaining availability is not known until the publisher signals that the limit is nearly reached.
Articles accepted between the date the limit is reached and December 31 of the same year cannot be covered. For hybrid journals, authors can either pay the APCs themselves or publish under a subscription model to avoid costs. For journals that have transitioned to fully gold open access, APCs must be covered by the authors.
APC coverage resumes on January 1 of the following year (as long as the agreement is still active), but only applies to articles accepted within the new contract year.

News

Details on the procedures for the retrospective conversion of articles accepted between January 1, 2025, and the start of the contract in early 2026 will be shared shortly.
