Inter-University Research Centre for Legal Informatics - CIRIG

The Inter-University Research Centre for Legal Informatics (CIRIG) was established at the Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, Department of Legal Studies (DSG), which also serves as the Centre’s administrative headquarters.
The Centre also brings together the University of Bari Aldo Moro, the University of Brescia (Department of Law), the University of Cagliari, the University of Camerino, the “G. D’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara, Kore University of Enna, the University of Foggia, the University of Genoa, LUMSA University, the University of Milano-Bicocca, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, the University of Milan, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the University of Naples Federico II, the University of Padua, the University of Palermo, the University of Eastern Piedmont “Amedeo Avogadro”, the University of Rome Sapienza, the University of Rome Tor Vergata, the University of Salento, the University of Salerno, Suor Orsola Benincasa University, the University of Turin and the IUSS School for Advanced Studies Pavia.
The Centre:
- promotes Legal Informatics within Italian universities, public administrations and the private sector;
- actively supports the development of scientific research in Legal Informatics by participating in national, European and international research projects and competing for competitive research funding. Its activities are interdisciplinary and encourage collaboration with scholars in computer science and other fields;
- organises conferences, seminars and workshops on Legal Informatics, with particular attention to the latest developments emerging from research projects;
- promotes the development of a national network of scholars in Legal Informatics. To this end, it organises events bringing together researchers and academics in the field, with the aim of fostering collaboration, sharing research developments and coordinating future research directions;
- in the public sector, aims to raise awareness among public administrations of Legal Informatics issues by promoting training, study and development activities and exploring new areas of application;
- in the private sector, aims to engage businesses with Legal Informatics by promoting continuing education and facilitating research collaborations with industry.
