This line of research encompasses the study of energy production, conversion, distribution, and utilization systems. Activities include the optimization of industrial processes, fluid machinery, thermofluid dynamics, energy storage systems, hydrogen-based technologies, CO₂ sequestration, and the integration of renewable energy sources. This field also includes research activities aimed at assessing environmental quality and the impacts of industrial processes and energy systems, including the characterization of emissions, the study of the dispersion and persistence of contaminants, the analysis of the toxicity of materials and byproducts, and the development of models and decision-support tools for defining thresholds, limits, and technical-scientific criteria to support environmental policies. Additional activities focus on the eco-industry, resource-efficient industrial processes, and the digitization of agro-industrial systems through the development of measurement, modeling, and decision-support systems.
