The Center for Friendly Cities for Mobility Safety – CeSCAM, based at the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Territory, Environment and Mathematics, deals with issues concerning the quality of life, in particular safety in urban mobility, accessibility and quality of urban public spaces, especially in relation to the movements of weak road users.
The activities of the Center will also have a positive influence on the Brescia area, in fact, among the objectives, the identification of a methodology for the processing of data on accidents in the Province of Brescia also emerges, such as the recent agreement between the University of Brescia and the Prefecture, and identify the type of interventions to mitigate the critical issues. Further objectives are: the design of typical interventions of redevelopment of urban outdoor public spaces, in particular mobility infrastructures; monitoring the relationship between urban and territorial development and relative quality of life; the performance of validation of infrastructure projects and verification of the safety of those in operation; scientific research and technical insights on the issues of safety in mobility.
In training, on the other hand, national and international seminars, refresher courses and study conventions will be organized, also in collaboration with Public Bodies, Individuals and Scientific Associations, also encouraging the cultural exchange of students through internships.
The operation of the Città Amica Study Center for Mobility Safety is ensured by the use of the equipment entrusted to the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Territory, Environment and Mathematics, as well as to other Departments interested in research programs, also from other Universities, and will enjoy, for the first three years, funding from some Rotary Clubs of District 2050 and the latter with EGAF Edizioni srl will guarantee collaboration services for dissemination activities, organization of seminars and conferences and publication of manuals.
