Abstract

ActaReBuild

The EU office building stock’s renovation processes should prioritise the use of innovative and sustainable materials. Achieving this requires specialised scientists. The EU-funded ActaReBuild project will provide high-level training to 10 doctoral candidates (DCs) on sustainable materials and building components. The DCs will learn how to enhance the acoustic and thermal performance of renovated buildings while minimising embodied carbon production. The project will expose the DCs to innovative building materials and solutions like bio-, nano-, meta-, recycled, 3D printed materials, and multilayer structural skins. The training will also cover measurement techniques and assessment methods, including life cycle analysis, sustainability assessment, and simulation techniques in acoustics, energy, and hygrothermal behaviour.
