On November 5th, 2025, the closing meeting of the RENALPS project, a Starting Grant funded by the UNITA – Universitas Montium. Alliance, was held in the meeting room of the DICATAM Department at the University of Brescia.
The project aims to assess the extent to which a mountain area can achieve carbon neutrality and to develop knowledge and methodologies through practical case studies (demonstrators), in order to provide local authorities and stakeholders with the necessary tools to make informed decisions regarding the optimal mix of renewable energy sources (solar, biomass, hydroelectric, geothermal, and wind) to invest in within Alpine regions.
RENALPS was coordinated by Prof. Ivan Ferretti (DICATAM – University of Brescia), with the participation of Prof. Roberto Ranzi (DICATAM – University of Brescia), Prof. Sergio Vinciguerra (University of Turin), Prof. Macedon Moldovan (Transilvania University of Brașov), and Prof. Christophe Menezo (Université Savoie Mont Blanc).
In the afternoon, participants visited the hydroelectric plant in Gardone Val Trompia, concluding the day with a discussion on the project’s results and future perspectives.
