The University of Brescia is participating in the UNITA Week, which is taking place at the Transilvania University of Brașov from June 17 to 21, 2024. This is the biannual project management and decision-making event of the Alliance, hosted each time by a different university in the network.

The UniBs delegation consists of Rector Prof. Francesco Castelli, Vice Rector for Internationalization Prof. Roberto Ranzi, Luca Bonfà from the UNITA Quality Assurance task, Maria Benedetta Collini, a member of the Management Committee and various project tasks, Stefano Filippini, legal advisor for project governance, Aiko Terao, head of the UNITA Office, and students participating in the UNITA Student Assembly, Luca Lazzarini (student representative on the University Board of Directors) and Alessandro Maccabiani (from the Unibs4SDGs association).

Representatives from all partner universities of the UNITA project are attending the UNITA Week. This event involves representatives from the partner universities of the UNITA - Universitas Montium Alliance, which comprises 12 universities located in mountainous regions, united by the use of Romance languages. The Alliance includes a total of 250,000 students and 21,000 staff members.

The UNITA Alliance is developing innovative models of governance and cooperation to build the concept of a European University, including institutions from Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, and Romania, with associated partners from Switzerland and Ukraine.

During the UNITA Week, crucial topics are addressed, such as community development, personalized and multilingual learning pathways, improvement of the digital campus, research infrastructure, international mobility, and regional innovation. Additionally, the Strategic Council, which includes the rectors of the 12 partner universities, meets in Brașov for important management meetings and campus visits. The Rectors and Vice Rectors also discussed the potential future transformation of the UNITA European alliance into a true federation of European universities in the form of a European Academic Interest Group.
