The Università degli Studi di Brescia, as a partner of the European Alliance UNITA – Universitas Montium, participated in UNITA Week held from 10 to 12 March at the Politécnico da Guarda (IPG).

Over the course of the three days, Rectors, Vicerectors, working group leaders, and student representatives from the 12 UNITA partner universities took part in strategic meetings focused on governance, education, research, and the Alliance’s territorial development.

UNITA Week provided an opportunity to review the project’s progress and reflect on the results achieved, the remaining challenges, and possible shared solutions.

Discussions focused on the development of new academic communities within UNITA, internationalization strategies, and the European values guiding the Alliance, as well as the progress achieved through the development of the UNITA Graduate School to support joint doctoral programmes, double degrees, and joint degrees, along with lifelong learning opportunities offered through micro-credentials and the UNITA à la carte programme.

The working group of our University also addressed the issue of the institutional development of European university alliances, including the possible evolution towards a confederated model, as established by the “Brescia Declaration” approved in 2025, the Rector, Prof. Francesco Castelli, wished to highlighted.

Prof. Ranzi highlighted that UNITA is a strategic project for our University aimed “To develop the Education, Research and Innovation ecosystems in peripheral, cross-border rural and mountain areas, valorising romance languages”.
