Purpose
Scientific Computing is an essential tool for qualitative and quantitative investigation in modern applied sciences. The Scientific Computing computer lab is designed for the development of scientific computing in applied mathematics. Users of the lab include faculty, research fellows, and scholarship holders from the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Land, Environment, and Mathematics (DICATAM), as well as students from the Faculty of Engineering or the Catholic University of Brescia (who collaborate with DICATAM faculty), who need to perform numerical simulations as part of their studies and research. Specifically, students from the Faculty of Engineering taking courses in Numerical Computing can access the lab to practice with MATLAB.
Equipment
7 workstations:
PC with Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, dual Windows operating system, 19" monitor;
projector.
Software
Windows operating system (LINUX can be installed);
MATLAB (regularly updated);
Office, LaTeX, Acrobat Reader.
Account
Users who need to perform numerical simulations as part of their study and research activities may request a personal account. The account request must include the following information:
Name and surname;
Address and telephone number;
Student ID number if the applicant is a student;
Any contact person in the Mathematics Section of the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Land, Environment, and Mathematics.
The request must be submitted to the Director, who will authorize the account activation.
Location and Hours
The computer lab is located in the DICATAM Mathematics Section, on the ground floor of the Via Valotti building.
For accredited users, the computer room remains open during DICATAM Mathematics Section opening hours.
