An overview of the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department

Informations home page

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering was established in 1982, concurrently with the founding of the University of Brescia.

It is active in all areas of mechanics, mechatronics, industrial automation, robotics, management and social engineering, mechanical and electronic measurements, and metallurgy.

The Department maintains numerous collaborations with companies at the local, national, and international levels for industrial research activities on behalf of third parties or for the provision of specialized services and consulting.

Technology transfer activities are of great importance, as are third mission initiatives involving non-profit activities aimed at the local community.

Thanks to the expertise of its Professors and Researchers, the Department has fostered the development of new entrepreneurial initiatives (start-up companies) involving faculty members, PhD candidates, and students.

The Department offers 8 degree programs (four Bachelor's degrees and four Master's degrees), in addition to two double-degree programs.

It also hosts two PhD Programs (Doctorates): one in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DRIMI) and one in Energy Transition and Sustainable Production Systems (TESPS).

The Department carries out its activities in the three areas (Research, Teaching, and Third Mission) in accordance with the requirements of the ANVUR’s self-assessment and accreditation system (AVA).
