Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine (DMMT)
The Department of Molecular and Translational Medicine (DMMT) is a multidisciplinary academic department that brings together the expertise of faculty members and researchers from the broad disciplinary areas of Medicine, Biology, and Chemistry.
The Department's educational mission is founded on the principles of knowledge sharing and continuous advancement of scientific expertise, with the aim of delivering high-quality education, fostering innovation, and promoting internationalisation, in accordance with the quality assurance principles established by the Italian AVA (Self-Assessment, Periodic Evaluation and Accreditation) system.
The Department's Degree Programmes, PhD Programmes, and Medical Residency Programmes are designed to educate highly qualified professionals capable of pursuing careers in the biomedical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and life sciences sectors, while contributing to the promotion of public health and well-being.
The DMMT offers the following Degree Programmes:
- Single-Cycle Master's Degree Programme in Pharmacy;
- Bachelor's Degree Programmes in Biotechnology and Biomedical Laboratory Techniques;
- Master's Degree Programme in Medical Biotechnology.
The Department is also home to three internationally oriented PhD Programmes:
- Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine;
- Molecular Genetics, Biotechnology and Experimental Medicine;
- Precision Medicine.
In addition, the Department hosts four Medical Residency Programmes:
- Anatomical Pathology;
- Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology;
- Medical Microbiology;
- Clinical Pathology and Clinical Biochemistry.
Through a strategy of continuous growth and development, the Department has established itself as a leading institution at both the regional and national levels. Its strong collaborative culture promotes the development of shared research platforms and laboratories within and across departments, thereby enhancing the quality of education, research, and third mission activities.
The DMMT is internationally recognised for its scientific excellence and consistently achieves outstanding results in both national and international research evaluation exercises.
