Costs: To enroll in the filter semester, it is necessary to pay a lump-sum of € 250,00, by 5 p.m. on the 25th of July.
Enrolment in the first semester of the related course is free of charge.

The filter semester normally lasts from September 1st to November 30th and consists of 3 teachings, to each of which are assigned 6 educational credits (CFUs): a) Chemistry and biochemical propaedeutics; b) Physics; c) Biology.
Attendance at the filter semester is compulsory; the temporary enrolment in the first semester of one of the related courses does not entail any compulsory attendance for the student.
For admission to the course, students must attend and pass the profit exams for each of the three teachings. For admission to the a.y. 2025/2026, the profit examinations for the three subjects will be held, at the end of the educational activities, in two exam sessions on the following dates:
- first call: 20 November 2025, 11 a.m.;
- second call: 10 December 2025, 11 a.m.
Each examination consists of the administration of thirty-one (31) questions, fifteen (15) of which are multiple-choice and sixteen (16) are answer by completion mode. The examinations are graded in thirtieths, in addition to honors, to which is given the value of one point. For the inclusion in the ranking list, the score is awarded as follows:
- 1 point for each correct answer;
- 0 points for each omitted answer;
- minus 0.25 (- 0.25) points for each incorrect answer.
A maximum of ninety-three (93) points is awarded for the overall evaluation of the three examinations. The student has the opportunity to waive the grade obtained in each examination, in order to take it again at the next roll call of the same filter semester or in case of new enrolment.
Only students who have obtaineda score not lower than eighteen out of thirty (18/30) in each examination can access the ranking list in order to continue their studies in the course in Medicine or in the course in School of Dentistry.
In case of failure to achieve a useful position in the ranking list, or in case of waiver of enrolment in Medicine or Dentistry, students may enroll in the second semester of the related course of study, with the guarantee of full recognition of the CFUs earned in the filter semester, according to the order of the ranking list of related courses.
Students who do not access the ranking list due to failure to pass all the profit examinations of the filter semester, or in case of waiver of the grade achieved in at least one of the profit examinations taken, may enroll in another course of study, subject to the access requirements provided by the current regulations and in the presence of available places.
For this purpose, it is strongly recommended that the student take the admission tests for the programmed access courses in which they are interested.
The criteria for the formation of the ranking list and the procedures for the allocation of seats in the course of study in Medicine or Dentistry, or in the related course, are established by special ministerial decree.
If you wish to request exemptions or reductions in university contribution or right-to-study benefits in your university course, it is essential to be in possession of ISEE certificate for subsidized right-to-study benefits.
