PhD grants, having an annual amount of € 16,243.30, gross of the costs, are disbursed on a monthly basis. The amount of the grant can be increased by 50% for research periods outside Italy of at least 15 continuous days, for a total duration not exceeding 12 months in the three-year period, and must be authorized by the PhD Board of Professors or by the PhD Coordinator. This increase is applied to each PhD student, both recipient of a grant and not recipient of a grant.
Since the first year of the PhD Programme each PhD student, both recipient of a grant and not recipient of a grant (excluding PhD students enrolled under Apprenticeship of Higher Education and Research contracts or under the posts for private and public administration employees that envisage the upholding of the salary treatment) is ensured a budget for the research activity in Italy and abroad for an amount not less than 10% of the annual gross amount of the scholarship itself. This increase of 10% is disbursed as a reimbursement of expenses pursuant to the current University Regulations.
PhD grants cannot be combined with other scholarships or grants awarded for any reason, except those granted by national or foreign institutions useful to integrate the PhD research periods outside Italy.
PhD grants are renewed on condition that the PhD student has completed the yearly programme of activities and is admitted to the following academic year by the PhD Board of Professors.
Those students who have previously benefited from a PhD grant, even partially, cannot benefit from a PhD grant once again.
