PhD Grants

PhD grants, having an annual amount of € 15,343.28, gross of the costs, are disbursed on a monthly basis. The amount of the grant can be increased by 50% for research periods outside Italy of at least 15 days, for a total duration not exceeding 18 months in the three-year period, and must be authorized by the PhD Board of Professors or by the PhD Coordinator. This increase is applied to each PhD student, both recipient of a grant and not recipient of a grant.

Since the PhD Programme second year each PhD student both recipient of a grant and not recipient of a grant (excluding PhD students enrolled under Apprenticeship of Higher Education and Research contracts or under Industrial Doctorate contracts) is ensured a budget for the research activity in Italy and abroad for an amount not less than 10% of the annual gross amount of the scholarship itself.

PhD grants cannot be combined with other scholarships or grants awarded for any reason, except those granted by national or foreign institutions useful to integrate the PhD research periods outside Italy. Grants are renewed on condition that the PhD student has completed the yearly programme of activities and is admitted to the following academic year by the PhD Board of Professors. Those who have previously benefited from it, even partially, cannot benefit from a PhD grant once again.
