Generating value from innovations

Patents safeguard the innovations and technologies developed within the academic sphere.

Businesses can tap into patented technologies from the University of Brescia through licensing agreements or by requesting patent transfers.

A selection of the most promising technologies—those for which patent applications have already been filed—is featured on Knowledge Share, the national platform endorsed by the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM) and NETVAL  (Network for the Valorization of Research), as well as on the University’s website under the Patent Portfolio section.

Activation Process

The company can commercially use the technology by entering into a licensing agreement, with the University retaining ownership of the patent. Alternatively, the company can purchase the patent rights from the University, gaining full control to use, sell, or license the patent as it sees fit.

In both cases, the payment terms and amounts will need to be agreed upon.
