The Brescia Observatory brings together academics and professionals working within the Municipality and Province of Brescia and reflects a wide range of expertise and specialisations in the legal, healthcare, scientific and humanities fields.
In particular, it pursues the following objectives:
- to strengthen and expand the network of relationships between academia, the professions and the healthcare sector in relation to the issues outlined above;
- to promote training and study events for professional bodies, particularly those representing the legal and healthcare professions;
- to promote public outreach and information events for the benefit of the wider community;
- to organise scientific initiatives and submit research projects on matters falling within the Observatory’s areas of interest, also with a view to consolidating its relationship with the National Diritto Gentile Network;
- to foster a virtuous exchange of ideas, experiences, materials and good practices in the healthcare sector, thereby contributing to the cultural, human and professional enrichment of the Brescia area;
- to contribute actively to the current national cultural, scientific, bioethical and legal debate, particularly in relation to proposals for reform and new regulatory approaches.
These objectives are pursued by applying the University’s threefold mission—teaching, research and engagement with society—to the Observatory’s areas of interest. This requires teaching and research activities to be accompanied by constructive interaction with the local community and by a commitment to giving back to it in cultural terms, primarily through close cooperation with the principal hospitals and healthcare institutions in the area.
