Do I still need to enter a 2FA code if I log in with SPID or CIE?

Do I still need to enter a 2FA code if I log in with SPID or CIE?

Absolutely not. If you choose to log in using your digital identity (SPID or Electronic Identity Card / CIE), our system will not ask you for any additional 6-digit code.

The reason is purely technical: SPID and CIE are considered "Strong Authentication" security systems because they already have 2FA (Two-Factor Authentication) built-in.

When you use these methods, you are already proving your identity in two steps:

  • With SPID (Level 2): You enter your password (something you know) and confirm the login via a push notification or code on your provider's app (something you have).
  • With CIE: You tap your physical plastic card on your phone (something you have) and type your 8-digit PIN (something you know).

Consequently, the moment the State system gives us the "green light" and guarantees that it is really you, we accept it immediately. It makes no sense to add our own padlock to a door that has already been opened in a bulletproof and certified way!

What are SPID and CIE?

SPID (Public Digital Identity System) and CIE (Electronic Identity Card) are your universal digital keys in Italy. They allow you to securely log in to the online services of the Italian Public Administration and many private entities using a single set of credentials.

  • SPID is fully digital: it consists of a username, a password, and a smartphone app for two-factor authentication.
  • CIE is a physical, microchipped ID card that can also be used digitally by tapping it against your smartphone (using NFC technology).
