Exhibition and Study Day: ‘From Memory to the Future: Students Working for Their Campus’

Tuesday 27 October 2026, 9.00 am
Salone Apollo - Piazza Mercato, 15

The Study Days were established with the aim of enhancing the educational experience of students on the single-cycle Master’s degree programme in Building Engineering and Architecture at the Università degli Studi di Brescia, highlighting the ongoing dialogue between knowledge of architectural heritage and the design process.
The programme offers a journey through the various stages of the academic curriculum: from the historical analysis and survey of the buildings on the Università di Brescia campus to their critical interpretation, and finally to the development of design proposals focused both on demolition and reconstruction and on the enhancement and reuse of existing structures. The focus is therefore on the university campus as a prime venue for experimentation, where students are called upon to imagine and design new spaces for teaching, research and community life. Through the presentation of the students’ work and the dedicated exhibition, the initiative aims not only to document the teaching activity but also to provide a space for reflection on the relationship between university education, design practice and the urban context, helping to strengthen the link between the university and the local area.
The event thus serves as a forum for dialogue between students, lecturers and professionals, in which the city and the university become complementary spheres of inquiry and design. The existing architectural heritage and visions for the future intertwine, presenting a dynamic picture of the role of the engineer-architect in the responsible transformation of the built environment.
