Within the Department of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics (DICATAM) of the University of Brescia, the Research Center “Appropriate Technologies for Environmental Management in Resource-Limited Countries” – CeTAmb has been established, with its administrative headquarters located within the same Department.
CeTAmb carries out its activities according to the following main programs:
- Promote contacts with volunteer associations, other universities and secondary schools, research institutions, and businesses, both in Italy and in low-income countries, with the aim of encouraging development cooperation activities.
- Promote the dissemination of information on cooperation activities through the establishment of a documentation center, including a library, online information network, website, archive of information and demonstration materials concerning major projects in low-income countries, databases, and the publication of periodic information bulletins.
- Promote, coordinate, and directly carry out research activities and interdisciplinary international collaboration in cooperation with low-income.
- Encourage cultural exchanges involving students and academic staff through internships and placements at universities and businesses in developing countries, and vice versa.
- Organize specialized seminars within university degree courses and educational programs of upper-secondary schools in order to raise awareness of environmental management issues in developing countries.
- Promote, in cooperation with Italian and international research institutes, local businesses, and public and private organizations, the organization of training activities, workshops, and national and international conferences aimed at disseminating the results of the research activities carried out.
