The Center is based at the Department of Medical-Surgical Specialties, Radiological Sciences and Public Health. The administrative haeadquarters ia at the Università degli Studi di Bari "Aldo Moro".
The center aims to:
- develop a collaborative multicenter network for omics, genotypic and phenotypic analysis of nephropathic patients undergoing renal biopsy;
- create a network of national biobanks with its articulations in the individual founding centers, for the study of nephropathies subjected to renal biopsy through close collaboration with national scientific societies, the SIN with the Renal Immunopathology Project Group in primis, and international;
- to become a tool for sharing and national collaboration capable of collecting, storing and analyzing on a large scale, clinical, molecular, genetic, biopsy and imaging information, useful for the phenotypic characterization of nephropathies;
- promote and coordinate Masters, Specialization, Refresher and Advanced Training Courses on the topics of renal biopsy, renal histopathology, omics and imaging, systems biology in nephrology;
- expand the biopsy network (hub/spoke model) with new spoke centers nationwide through training courses;
- establish collaborative relationships and stipulate contracts and agreements with both public and private research institutions and bodies operating in the regional, national and international territory.
