The BIOETHICS Study and Research Center has been established within the Department of Medical and Surgical Specialties, Radiological Sciences, and Public Health (DSMC), where its administrative headquarters are also located.
The Center’s objectives are to conduct studies and promote research on bioethical issues. In particular, it aims to explore the ethical principles underlying the doctor–patient relationship, as well as the conduct of medical and healthcare professionals towards patients, not only in clinical and therapeutic settings but also in the field of scientific research.
As part of its activities, the Center will organise seminars, professional development programs, and national and international conferences focusing on the topics outlined in the preceding paragraph.
These activities may be carried out in collaboration with public and private entities and scientific organisations that share the same interests.
The Center may receive external contributions and funding to cover its operating expenses. In agreement with the funding bodies, it may also conduct research commissioned by public and private entities, in accordance with the regulations currently in force.
