The Interuniversity Research Centre “Seminario Matematico di Brescia” is established within the Department of Civil, Environmental, Architectural Engineering and Mathematics (DICATAM) of Università degli Studi di Brescia, where its administrative headquarters are also located.
The Centre also includes the following departments of Università degli Studi di Brescia: the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (DIMI), the Department of Information Engineering (DII), and the Department of Economics and Management (DEM), as well as the “N. Tartaglia” Department of Mathematics and Physics of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Brescia campus.
The Seminario Matematico di Brescia is an interuniversity centre founded in 1988 through an agreement between Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Università degli Studi di Brescia, with the aim of promoting and coordinating joint initiatives in the field of mathematical research. The Centre brings together all faculty members and researchers working in the mathematical sciences at the two universities in Brescia.
In accordance with its statutory objectives, the Seminario Matematico di Brescia carries out its activities in four main areas:
- promoting and disseminating mathematical research, particularly by fostering joint research projects between the two participating universities;
- organising conferences, seminars, specialised courses and scientific meetings in the mathematical disciplines;
- promoting and supporting study and training initiatives, including advanced training courses, doctoral schools, specialisation courses and continuing professional development programmes;
- promoting mathematics awareness campaigns and educational initiatives in schools at all levels
