RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE LABORATORY COMMITTEE
The Commission serves as a tool for the Department’s integration and organizational development, promoting a laboratory management model based on leveraging internal expertise, clarifying roles and responsibilities, and continuously improving processes.
Specifically, the Commission:
- oversees the formalization of tasks and responsibilities related to laboratory activities;
- updates the charts detailing safety roles and the spaces assigned to laboratories;
- defines and updates cross-functional safety procedures and organizational procedures related to laboratory management;
- participates in site inspections conducted by the SPP, the Occupational Physicians, and the Technical Office, supporting their efforts to formalize the use of spaces and conduct the inspections themselves, and contributing to the identification of corrective actions and any purchases to be covered by the Department’s safety funds;
- coordinates the management of safety-related purchases and the provision of personal protective equipment (PPE);
- oversees the standardization and updating of safety signage;
- monitors the training of technical staff and promotes cross-functional activities in line with the University’s objectives;
- contributes to the review and updating of fee schedules and the catalog of tests and services provided as part of contract research activities;
- independently manages the website https://laboratoridimi.unibs.it/, intended for faculty and technical-administrative staff, on which safety procedures, Commission minutes, and information regarding the organization and procurement of laboratories are published.
As part of its functions, the Committee leverages the technical and scientific expertise
within the Department by formally designating Liaisons for specific subject areas
. These Liaisons support the Committee in their respective areas of expertise,
collaborating on the development of procedures, operational tools, and improvement initiatives, in accordance with
the guidelines set forth in the Department’s Strategic Plan.
