The Università di Brescia is hosting the 20th FEPS–SIF European Congress of Physiology, ‘Brescia 2026: Physiology Shaping the Future’, organised jointly by the Federation of European Physiological Societies (FEPS), the Italian Society of Physiology (SIF) and the Università di Brescia. The event will take place from Tuesday 8 September to Friday 11 September at the Faculty of Medicine, Viale Europa 11 (https://feps-sif2026.azuleon.org/welcome).
At the Congress, 505 scientists from 32 countries will present the results of their studies and discuss the current state of knowledge in the field of physiology, with a particular focus on future developments in the discipline. All fields of physiology are represented, from neurobiology to cardiovascular physiology, from integrative neuroscience to renal physiology, from muscle physiology to nutrition and gastrointestinal physiology, and from integrative and exercise physiology to adaptations to extreme environments. Furthermore, of the 20 planned symposia, one – sponsored by the Università di Brescia – will be dedicated to the teaching of physiology in medical degree programmes, whilst a second – sponsored by the Physiological Society, the leading society in the British Isles – will be dedicated to a prominent female figure active in British physiology during the second half of the 19th century.
