The Mechano-biology Research Center 5-th Anniversary Workshop: Biofilm’s Mechanobiology

On Tuesday, 23 September 2025, the workshop ‘Mechanobiology of Biofilms’ will be held in the Sala Consiliare of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Brescia, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the founding of the international research centre in Mechanobiology. Three internationally renowned speakers

• Prof. Knut Drescher, Biozentrum, University of Basel: ‘Emergent Properties of Bacterial Biofilms: Mechanics and Stress Tolerance’
• Prof. Roberto Rusconi, Humanitas University: ‘Mechanobiology of Biofilm Formation and Associated Infections’
• Prof. Alojz Ivankovic, University College Dublin: ‘Characterisation of Mechanical Properties and Detachment of Biofilms Based on Fracture Mechanics’

The role of mechanobiology in the formation of bacterial biofilms, a highly topical issue, will be illustrated. It will also be an important opportunity to express gratitude to those who have supported the centre's activities over the past five years.
