V Franciacorta Headache 2026 – Science, Innovation and Humanism in Headache Medicine

September 23 and 24, 2026
Hotel Iseo Lago – Via Colombera 2, Iseo (BS)

The 5th Franciacorta Headache 2026 will be held on September 23 and 24, 2026, in Iseo and will be dedicated to the theme “Science, Innovation, and Humanism in Headache Medicine,” with a focus on the principles of precision medicine as applied to headaches.

Therapeutic innovations in recent years have changed the way we understand and treat headaches. The emphasis on precision medicine brings with it the need to view the patient holistically.

The spirit of the 5th FH, as expressed by the title “Science, Innovation, and Humanism in Headache Medicine,” therefore reflects the growing need to move beyond a “numerical” view of the disease—beyond monthly migraine days—in favor of scientific and humanistic integration.

One of the central themes will be the paradigms of Precision Medicine. In this context, topics related to clinical phenotypes, biomarkers, and predictors of response will be addressed. Specific attention will be given to “non-responders,” in an effort to distinguish between resistant and refractory cases.

Neuroinflammation, which currently represents one of the main areas of research, will be explored in relation to new therapeutic targets, providing an up-to-date overview of the latest scientific findings.

Real-world data on monoclonal antibodies (MABs), botulinum toxin, and gepants will be discussed based on accumulated experience and will focus on therapeutic switching strategies and add-on therapies, aiming to outline treatment durations and discontinuation strategies. Chronic pain and its overlap with insomnia, fibromyalgia, anxiety, and depression, along with the growing role of interventional and neuromodulation procedures, will underscore the increasing need for a multidisciplinary management approach.

A distinctive theme of this event, set among the vineyards of Franciacorta, is the focus on Humanistic Medicine. The language of care, the apparent contradiction between AI and humanism, the role of art in neuroscience, research, and the need to return to “human medicine” will guide the fifth edition of Franciacorta Headache.
