AI and Law: state of affairs and future of EU policies

The presentation starts with an introduction to AI technology, followed by an analysis of several fields of law that have strong implications on the development and exploitation of AI tools (e.g., GDPR, IP law, etc.). The presentation also highlights several major challenges raised by AI, in the light of the existing legal framework. Finally, the presentation turns to the AI Act Proposal issued by the Commission, and discusses its most salient elements, with a particular focus on the transparency obligations included in the Proposal. The seminar ends with a debate on the challenges highlighted, and on the path chosen by the Commission to regulate AI.
