On Friday, 21 November the conference “The Last Day. From the Glacier to the City. A journey that begins at the Adamello glacier and reaches the heart of Brescia” was held in the Vanvitelliano Hall of Palazzo Loggia.
The event marked the conclusion of the Una Sola Terra Festival. On this occasion, the photographic project “The Last Days”, aimed at documenting the dramatic retreat of the Adamello glacier, was presented.
The conference took place within the framework of the International Year of Glacier Preservation, promoted by UNESCO and the WMO (World Meteorological Organization), and involved the University of Brescia, the European Alliance UNITA – Universitas Montium, and four UNITA Associated Partners: Comune di Brescia, Parco dell’Adamello, CAI Brescia, and A2A.

The visual and scientific presentation confirmed the urgency of this environmental challenge: according to the mathematical model developed by the University of Brescia’s research group, the Adamello glacier risks disappearing by the end of the century due to environmental issues linked to climate change.
The conference thus represented a valuable opportunity for the University of Brescia, UNITA, and four Associated Partners to raise public awareness about the rapid retreat of glaciers in the Italian Alps, combining art, science, and environmental awareness.
