From 16th to 18th February, the Università di Brescia hosted the Matching Event “Fundamental Rights and European Citizenship”, which brought together professors and researchers from the partner Universities of the Alliance UNITA – Universitas Montium.
The Matching Event “Fundamental Rights and European Citizenship” was opened by the conference “European Citizenship at a Crossroads: Fundamental Rights between Complexity and Transdisciplinarity,” moderated by Prof. Matteo Frau (UNIBS) and Prof. Paola Parolari (UNIBS), following the institutional greetings by the Rector Prof. Castelli and the Vice-Rector for Internationalization Prof. Roberto Ranzi.
The speakers included Prof. Alejandro Torres Gutiérrez (UPNA), Prof. Alberto Miglio (UNITO), Prof. Rosa Branca Cameira Tracana Pereira (IPG), Prof. Marco Alioni, and Prof. Barbara Badiani.
During the conference, the topic of European Citizenship was addressed from multiple perspectives: the inclusion of different religions in Europe; the relationship between strict observance of international law and political discretion; sustainable development in terms of health, food, and the environment; and the right of older adults to a dignified life
This stimulating seminar, held online and open to the entire UNITA Alliance, provided a valuable opportunity for discussion and exchange, setting the stage for the event’s activities.
The Matching Event “Fundamental Rights and European Citizenship” involved 28 participants, aiming to develop joint research projects, teaching activities, and scientific articles.
The following day, Professors Matteo Frau and Paola Parolari from the Faculty of Law and local coordinators of Task Team 2.5 dedicated to European Citizenship, officially opened the Matching Event with a plenary session, followed by the presentation of the researchers’ elevator pitches, serving as a preparation for the afternoon speed dates.
The final day concluded with group work and the closing remarks.
