The history of the building

Originally housed in the former Emiliani building (E31) on Viale Europa and in the building owned by Eulo on Via Valotti (E10), the School of Engineering moved to new premises following the completion of the Teaching Block (E11) in 1985 and the new building at 38 Via Branze (E09) in 1990. The three-storey building houses lecture theatres, study rooms, offices and laboratories, as well as the Aula Magna. A further expansion saw the construction of a new six-storey building (E08), equipped with departmental teaching spaces including computer-equipped classrooms and study rooms, located at 43 Via Branze and inaugurated in March 2006. Adjacent to the new complex, the Multisectoral Technology Services Centre (CSMT) (E70) was also built in 2007. In the same year, a link was constructed between the old and new engineering buildings: an enclosed pedestrian bridge, fitted with a lift for disabled access, which was essential to provide the university community with a safe alternative route to the existing stretch of road, which had immediately become very busy.

Today, Via Branze 38 is home to the Departments of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and the Department of Information Engineering, while Via Branze 43 houses the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Land Use, Environment and Mathematics.
