The fund is meant to strengthen the measures supporting scientific research listed in the National Programme for Research (PNR) 2021-2027, which transposes the six clusters of the European Research and innovation funding programme 2021-2027:
Health;
Humanities, Creativity, Social Transformations, Inclusive Society;
Civil Security for Society;
Digital, Industry and Space;
Climate, Energy and Sustainable Mobility;
Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment.
The Università di Brescia has been allocated 34 PRIN PNRR fundings and 2 fundings on NRRP cascade fundings.

Through the implementing decree of the NRRP the Ministry has made funds available for the activation of PhD scholarships with industrial characterisation. The object, whose importance is proven by the investments devoted, is to enhance high-profile skills, particularly in the areas of enabling technologies, through the establishment of PhD scholarships with the contribution and direct involvement of enterprises.
The ministerial funds of Ministerial Decree 117/2023 are allocated to the universities as implementing bodies of the support measure for the strengthening of research and development activities in enterprises.
The support takes the form of co-financing 50% of the three-year cost of a PhD scholarship, amounting to EUR 30,000.00.
The University of Brescia has been allocated funds amounting to 88 scholarships for 2023, which can be activated thanks to the contribution of partner enterprises.
