Waste Separation
Everyone's attention and cooperation in timely waste sorting can make a difference, because each type of waste has a different disposal cycle, and proper separation reduces the amount of waste going to landfill, helping to conserve resources and reduce environmental impact.
The sustainability of the University of Brescia also depends on managing waste separation as correctly as possible with the use of the special bins for paper, plastic, glass/aluminum and undifferentiated waste that are distributed throughout the university.
Care must be taken not to throw non-conforming materials into the recycling bins because compliance with legal obligations and municipal regulations is imperative for the University, which is subject to spot checks to verify the proper separation of waste and, in case of non-compliance, subject to sanctions.
The following multilingual “Guide to Separate Waste Separation” contains all the information regarding the system for separate waste collection of the City of Brescia.

Residences Waste Separation
As of 10 February 2017, separate waste collection will start in the northern part of the city according to the directives of the Municipality of Brescia. The University of Brescia with its Via Valotti campus, residences, study rooms and respective gardens will therefore apply the correct regulations and, with a view to an increasingly environmentally friendly ‘green’ university, aims to raise the awareness of all students who regularly frequent its spaces.
To do this, the correct waste bins will be present in all common areas that can be frequented by all students (gardens and study rooms). In the attached brochures you can follow the correct instructions in the different languages to proceed in the best possible way.
The 150 hours in the classrooms will supervise to ensure that no mistakes are ‘voluntarily’ made and good signage, provided by A2A AMBIENTE, will remind everyone of the correct disposal in the appropriate bins.
As far as the residences are concerned, procedures will differ according to the type of room/apartment. Those who use communal kitchens will carry out the correct waste collection in the relevant bins and the company in charge will collect the waste on a daily basis. On the other hand, those who have personal kitchens will be autonomous in disposing of organic and undifferentiated waste by collecting their waste cards at reception. For other types of waste, they will be able to deliver them in a special space that will be set up on the floor.
All residents will receive a dedicated e-mail with all the details and clarifications and will be properly trained and sensitised thanks to the collaboration of tutors.
