Waste Sorting
Everyone’s attention and cooperation in properly sorting waste can make a real difference. Each type of waste has a different disposal cycle, and correct separation reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills, helping to conserve resources and reduce environmental impact.
The sustainability of the University of Brescia also depends on proper waste sorting. Specific containers for paper, plastic, glass/aluminum, and non-recyclable waste are placed throughout the University to facilitate correct disposal.
It is essential to avoid placing inappropriate materials in the recycling bins. Compliance with legal obligations and municipal regulations is mandatory. The University is subject to random checks to verify the correct separation of waste and may face penalties in case of non-compliance.
The following "Multilingual Waste Sorting Guide" contains all the necessary information about the waste collection system of the Municipality of Brescia.

Waste Sorting in University Residences
In line with the University’s commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, the University of Brescia aims to raise awareness among all students living in the University Residences and regularly attending the Campus. To this end, it applies the relevant regulations and actively promotes related initiatives.
In common areas accessible to all students (such as gardens and study rooms), waste sorting bins are available. At the bottom of this page, multilingual brochures with detailed information can be downloaded.
Regarding the residences, procedures vary depending on the type of accommodation (rooms/apartments):
With access to shared kitchens:
Students must dispose of their waste in the appropriate recycling bins provided. These are emptied daily by the cleaning service staff. With access to private kitchens:
Students are responsible for personally disposing of organic and non-recyclable waste in the roadside bins. To do so, they must collect a card from the reception desk, which allows them to open the bins.
Other types of waste—plastic, paper, glass/cans—should be disposed of in the recycling bins available on each floor.
All new residents will receive a dedicated email with full details and will be trained and informed with the support of the student tutors.
