A resource produced and managed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). It provides free access to the information contained in the MEDLINE database. It collects more than 30 million bibliographic citations from thousands of biomedical journals, most of which are accompanied by abstracts and indexed with MeSH (Medical Subject Headings); whenever possible, the references are followed by a link to the full-text (the access provided here is integrated with Full Text Finder to allow for direct availability verification). The PubMed database is complemented by the PubMed Central (PMC) archive, which allows free consultation of full-text articles from approximately 3,000 journals in the field of medicine.
